Day 1 - Untangling the Web of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Billing:
This portion of the course will draw on Terri's 30+ years of experience with medical/ dental cross coding and billing for OMS Practices. Attendees will cover: the correct coding principles and guidelines for diagnostic and procedure coding seen most often in OMS practices. This includes: coding for grafting and implants, oral pathology, trauma, orthognathic, oral appliances, radiology and anesthesia. We will walk through scenarios on all of these topics, when and how to use modifiers appropriately and when to use a dental code versus a medical code. We’ll also examine updates on industry changes that may impact your practice.
• How to locate, prioritize, and report ICD-10 CM codes.
• How to code for implants and grafting to both medical and dental insurance carriers.
• The importance of relative value units.
• How to understand global surgical packages and the impact of how and what to bill.
• When to use modifiers and which ones to use.
• How to code for oral pathology services.
Day 2* – How Healthy is Your A/R? Key Metrics to Know and Manage:
*For those who have attended Terri’s seminar before (or an equivalent AAOMS course): Attend this dynamic, round table, in-depth session to learn what you can do now for your office to increase reimbursement and revenue. We will conduct a detailed overview of topics and guidelines that affect OMS offices. Attendees will work through claims (submitted in advance – 2 per office maximum). Let’s untangle this together!
